Introduced in 1978 the Suzuki GT250 X7 was an entirely different motorcycle from the previous 1973 to 1978 GT250 series. Both the engine and frame were completely redesigned and there were many other modifications such as changes to the gearbox ratios. As this motorcycle was the basis for the 1978 RG250 this manual is also appropriate for the repair and maintenance of that model.

X7 with frame numbers GT2502 to 500001 were manufactured from May 1978 to October 1980. Those with frame numbers GT2502 to 519409 date from October 1980 to August 1983. Note that while the X7 was officially discontinued in 1981, it was still available in certain countries through 1983.

Please note that the text in the original Suzuki manual was translated from Japanese into English. Consequently, some of the phrasing, grammar, punctuation and word usage may be subtly different from that commonly used in the English language. However the information, as presented, is readily understandable. In addition, while we have done our best to identify any anomalies, errors and incorrect spelling that may have occurred during the original translation process, we are certain that we will have missed one or two and we request your indulgence in ignoring them.
